Now, depending on the type of chocolate you eat, you'll have different effects in the body. Dark chocolate (70 or greater percentage of cocoa), when eaten in small amounts, contains antioxidants that, when taken regularly over time, can add about a year to your total lifespan. Eaten in small amounts, those same antioxidants can relax constricted arteries. Eating too much will have the opposite effect however, because of the fat in the chocolate.

Large amounts of chocolate may cause a caffeine buzz, jitters, or heart palpitations. Those sensitive to caffeine would eat chocolate in moderation, as about one ounce of the stuff has 20mg (30 mg less than your average soda pop).

Chocolate can give you a sense of well-being if you don't eat too much of it, partly from the chocolatey sweetness, the antioxidants, and the sugar and caffeine.

Milk chocolate and white chocolate are not good for your body. They contain little or no antioxidants. Skip them. Finally, like any candy, too much chocolate will put fat on your body. The most popular area seems to be th stomach, probably due the sugar rush chocolate can produce. (Sugar rushes often go right to the gut.)

A small amount of dark chocolate everyday isn't bad for you. The idea is to eat a couple of small squares, not to inhale a whole bar of the stuff. Dark chocolate is actually one of the better desserts out there you can eat (again, as long as you eat it in moderation).

SO BE AWARE
